What is Storybook Farm?
Storybook Farm’s mission is to "walk alongside children with uncertain futures and provide them with unyielding joy and hope". All in all, Storybook Farm provides "Hope on Horseback". They work not only with the children, but also their families. Over the seventeen years that the organization has been in operation, they have given hope to thousands of children and families. They have three areas of programming and only continue to grow. They focus on horseback riding which provides "Hope on Horseback", horticulture provided through the Secret Garden, and extra love and educational opportunities obtained through companion animals such as cats, dogs, and donkeys. Storybook Farm is a sanctuary for children and their families where they can be surrounded by peace and understanding and impacted in a way that when they leave the farm they take hope with them.
Why I Chose Storybook Farm
I chose to work with Storybook Farm for several reasons. One factor being that I had never worked in the type of environment that Storybook Farm offers. I wanted to experience learning opportunities I never had before and I received just that. I also love what Storybook Farm stands for. They are doing something that hasn’t really ever been done before. I wanted to be a part of something that has already been monumental for so many and I have no doubt that Storybook Farm’s future will continue to be bright.
